Regi Smith, Emergency Manager of Sioux Falls, said the crash took place at 17.00. CT. The person who died was on the plane, Smith said during a press conference on Tuesday night.
Four houses were affected by the plane crash, Smith said, two of which suffered severe damage. The Red Cross was contacted on Tuesday evening to possibly protect the families of these two houses.
The Sioux Falls Police Department continues to search the scene, Smith said.
"We are still investigating the possibility of more deaths," Smith said.
"It sounded like a plane was poking its nose in the ground," Jamison said.
"I was at a Christmas party with my parents when we heard the explosion and saw the fire," he said. "We walked about three blocks to the construction site."
A team from the National Transportation Safety Board was called to Sioux Falls to investigate the crash, and Smith said he expected it on Wednesday, Amanda Jackson and Danielle Sills contributed to the report.
