BOSTON – Celtic's second-year Swingman Jaylen Brown suffered a slight hamstring that forced him to miss the second half of Matchday 7 of the Milwaukee Bucks.
Brown said he will undergo an MRI but Sunday is optimistic that he will be available for the Eastern Conference Semifinals opener against the Philadelphia 76ers on Monday in Boston.
"I just made a move, and it just popped a bit, pulled it a bit, but it'll be all right," Brown said after Boston's 112-96 triumph.
Asked about a treatment plan, Brown said, "Massage, rest, ice cream, all the above.I hate pills. How, probably I have not taken a pill in over 10 years, but they have taken me with anti-inflammatories and So, whatever is needed, because I would not miss this next series for the world. "
Brown said his Achilles tendon felt" stiff "and" a little locked up, "but said the pain was nothing, what he could not stand.
The Celtics had announced in the third quarter against the Bucks that Brown could return, but coach Brad Stevens erred on the side of caution, especially as Boston retired.
"I was told that if we got a pinch he could play it, we decided it would not," Stevens said, "with Hamstrings, let's see how he feels tomorrow . "
Brown tried at the beginning of the second half, but after work, to talk back to the game by a few test sprints across the court, he was instead directed to a training bike on the court. He watched the fourth quarter from the Boston bank.
"Just the risk, the risk of going back and making it worse," Brown said, "[The training staff] told me it was my call and I called, so I was there when they needed me.
Brown added, "We won, so that's all that matters, so it was a good call from Coach. We took care of business."
Brown was asked if he thought he was would be available on Monday for Game 1
"Yes, that's my goal," he said.
Marcus Smart started the second-half place of Brown, which ended with two points on 1-of-5 shooting.
The Celtics already play in Kyrie Irving, Gordon Hayward and Daniel Theis without three key players this season. All three were courtside for the start of Game 7 on Saturday night.
