2018 NFL Draft: Quick-snap scores for each team through Day 2

I have heard the argument that the grading scores are worthless immediately after the draft. But I do not agree.

These notes are not about what the player will look like in three years, because nobody knows. What the grades represent is an assessment of the process each team has gone through to reach the players who have made it, and whether their choices are appropriate for their college game and athletic prospects.

Creating this snapshot now also provides a basic evaluation of the decision making processes of the teams. If a prospect is a good choice on the day of the draft but does not succeed, that is a completely different assessment of the decision of his new team than a "bust" that was considered at that time to be reach. Waiting for three years to evaluate these tips leads to a revisionist story, not to an accurate rating.

Note: selections and trades in the opening laps have a higher weight in the standings than in the later rounds

AFC East

Buffalo Bill's
Draft Picks: Wyoming QB Josh Allen (# 7 in total), Virginia Tech LB Tremaine Edmunds (# 1

6 in total), Stanford DT Harrison Phillips (# 96 in total).
Day 1 Class: B +
Day 2 Class: B +
Overall rating: B +
The Skinny: Device Cordy Glenn re-established in Cincinnati Shipping America Swap the picks and put Buffalo in a position to go back up and pick Allen. It's alright to give up two picks in the second round without taking Pick No. 22 this year. Allen's inaccuracy as a pitcher against marginal competition makes him a risk that many teams do not want to take. However, he did show an improvement through the design process, so it is possible that this will happen. The Bills also went down in last year's draft to get a second first-rounder over Kansas City this year and then pulled up again when the extraordinary Edmunds was available at 16. A good trade, especially because they are only from the third to the fifth round in the business. Trading to Land Allen quietened the bills for Friday night and we must see if it was worth it. But getting Phillips late in the third round was a big deal, as he could be a perfect substitute for Nose tackle Kyle Williams when he retires. The guy led Stanford last year in tackles as a nose tackle. Think about it.

Miami Dolphins
Draft Picks: Alabama DB Minkah Fitzpatrick (# 11 in total), Penn State TE Mike Gesicki (# 42 in total), Ohio State LB Jerome Baker (# 73 in total).
Day 1 Grade: B +
Day 2 Grade: A
Overall rating: A-
The Skinny: The Dolphins have not got first-class quarterback and Instead, wait to see if Ryan Tannehill returns healthy and productive. We'll see if you choose a QB later as a backup plan. However, I can not blame them for taking Fitzpatrick because it will take Miami's defense – not just secondary – to another level. Since Julius Thomas was no longer in the team, the dolphins had to find a close end. Gesicki is a phenomenal athlete like Thomas, but scouts were worried about his long strides preventing him from beating experienced defenders. On jump balls, however, he will be difficult to defend. Miami needed a linebacker and Baker could move. They have fulfilled their highest defensive need with this selection. However, they have not chosen a quarterback yet.

New England Patriots
Drafting Tips: Georgia OT Isaiah Wynn (# 23 overall), Georgia RB Sony Michel (# 31 overall), Florida CB Duke Dawson (# 56 overall).
Day 1 Class: A
Day 2 Class: A
Overall Rating: A
The Skinny: There are not many sub-6 foot 3 tackles in the NFL. But Wynn's length and athleticism allowed him to outdo the Bulldogs, and there's no reason to think he can not be a solid player in the NFL there. He also plays with a bad strand. Just another four-year high-character player for Bill Belichick. His college teammate, who leads Michel back, will accompany him to Foxboro. Michel has the versatility of being a star in the Patriots' system, working as a receiver, breaking through defenses as a runner. On Day 2, the Patriots made only one selection, but went down a couple of times to get into the fourth round and Chicago in the second round. They also exchanged the third and fifth round picks for 49ers right against Trenton Brown. They picked Dawson, a slot corner and troublemaker for receivers, and swapped a fourth grader for Tampa Bay to select him. He will contribute immediately.

New York Jets
Draft Picks: USC QB Sam Darnold (# 3 overall), Fort Hays State DT Nathan Shepherd (# 72 in total).
Day 1 Class: A
Day 2 Class: B
Overall rating: A-
The Skinny: The Jets gave three second rounds of picks, to move up three places to find a quarterback. They could have had the top quarterback on their board when Darnold was sitting there (though they would not admit it if he was not their best QB). They paid a pretty high price to get it, but it's not a franchise killing if it does not work out. It was a good move that could be a big step. The Darnold trade limited their picks on Day 2. Shepherd will take the Nose tackle spot for the jets and use his ability and leverage to keep the line of attack exactly where it is.

AFC North

Baltimore Ravens [19659007] Drafts: South Carolina TE Hayden Hurst (# 25 in total), Louisville QB Lamar Jackson (# 32 in total), Oklahoma OT Orlando Brown (No.83 in total) ), Oklahoma TE Mark Andrews (# 86 in total).
Day 1 Class: A-
Day 2 Class: B +
Overall Rating: A-
The Skinny: The Ravens recorded a lot of them picks in two trade-downs and still has talent at a tight end. This is a great opportunity for Ozzie Newsome to start his final design as GM's Ravens. Hurst is a gentle, self-confident recipient who offers inner hardness and stretches the field. I think my close friend Dallas Goedert has a potentially great future, so I would have gone that way instead. It is not too risky to play a second round in 2019 to get Jackson. I believe in Jackson's skill as a playmaker and he has no pressure to play in 2018. Jackson is a worthy choice. Brown was a strong legacy to the ravens. The son of the late ex-Ravens OT Orlando Brown will likely surpass his much-maligned training numbers in the left or right tackle, especially if he shows teams that these bad results are not due to a problem with his work ethic. Andrews joined Hurst as tight ends in this design by The Ravens. Andrews will test the center of defense similar to Hurst. Joe Flacco and Jackson will love to throw these guys.

Cincinnati Bengals
Draft Picks: Ohio State C / OG Billy Price (# 21 in total), Wake Forest S Jessie Bates (# 54 in total), Ohio State DE Sam Hubbard (# 77 overall ), Texas LB Malik Jefferson (# 78 in total).
Day 1 Class: B
Day 2 Class: A
Overall Rating: B +
The Skinny: Pick up Cordy Glenn from the Bills for a If Pulling down in the first round of 10 points will help your offensive line, so this must be taken into account. The choice of Price, a center / guard, continues the Bengali effort to become stronger, though I think that more could be selected here from a discriminator. The Bengals could have expected and landed a very good inside offensive lineman in the second or third round. The Bengals took an extra lap in the third round on the second lap by climbing a few places down. Their back-to-back fighters – Hubbard and Jefferson – wing their front seven. The games of both guys were not loved by scouts, but in the third round these tips make sense. Jefferson could be a particularly good asset if everything comes together when it matures.

Cleveland Brown's
Draft Picks: Oklahoma QB Baker Mayfield (# 1 overall), Ohio State CB Denzel Ward (# 4 overall), Nevada OG Austin Corbett (# 33 overall), Georgia RB Nick Chubb (# 35 in total), Miami DE Chad Thomas (# 67 in total).
Day 1 Class: B
Day 2 Class: A
Overall Rating: B +
The Skinny: Brown's GM John Dorsey benefited from his predecessors bounty , They made a first choice in this draft by trading in the fall of last year's Deshaun Watson. Now they have Mayfield, a fiery leader with pass abilities that they believe can take the team's mojo to the next level. They had to pick a QB at number 1, and they did it. The only red flag here is that Mayfield has to make games out of pocket to be successful. If Sam Darnold or Josh Rosen excelled and Mayfield did not, then their process was flawed. Picking Ward # 4 overall, ahead of Bradley Chubb, was a bit reach. However, if he is a Terence Newman clone, it may prove a good choice. On the second day, the Browns took advantage of a selection they had received in Brock Osweiler to consolidate their offensive line with Corbett, who can play indoors or out. Will he replace Joe Thomas? Chubb was also an excellent choice as he will have the ball hit between the tackles and . Thomas is an athletic, explosive defensive player who can immediately impress as a rotation player.

Pittsburgh Steelers
Drafting Tips: Virginia Tech S Terrell Edmunds (# 28 in total), Oklahoma State WR James Washington (# 60 in total), Oklahoma State QB Mason Rudolph (# 76 in total) , Western Michigan OT Chukwuma Okorafor (# 92 in total).
Day 1 Grade: B +
Day 2 Grade: B +
Overall rating: B +
The Skinny: The Steelers went as expected, but Surely Edmunds, the brother of the other first round, picked up Tremaine, replacing Stanford Justin Reid and others. This was a surprise choice for most, and probably a round early – but given his strength and NFL bloodlines (Father, Ferrell, played a tight end in the league), but maybe it should not have been. He will definitely be a welcome addition to the team. Punching Martavis Bryant to Oakland for a third round meant that they had to find another big-game receiver. Washington is not big or an elite runabout, but his super-long arms and ability to win the jump make him a solid find in the second round. He was paired with his former teammate Rudolph in the third round. They could make for an interesting duo in a few years. Rudolph was a good value for the third round. Okorafor could be a starter but has to work harder and faster on the field or he will be out of the league quickly.

AFC South

Houston Texans
Draft: Stanford S Justin Reid (No.68 in total), Mississippi State OT Martinas Rankin (No.80 in total), UCF TE Jordan Akins (No.98 in total) ).
Day 1 Class: A
Day 2 Class: A-
Overall rating: A
The Skinny: If the Texans had the fourth selection this draft Instead of engaging to vote for Deshaun Watson last April, would they be better off? It seems unlikely, so I stick to the A-mark I gave them last year. But if Watson is well again, we know more. When Houston scored a goal early in the third round, they found Reid to be of great value. He's a bit tight in the hips, but he's also a clever downhill player who will start many years. They also have great value in Rankin, a Mississippi state machine that could play multiple spots. The guy just will not get beaten and will be a solid starter. Collecting akins about other narrow ends like Ian Thomas and Troy Fumagalli is a questionable affair.

Indianapolis Colts
Drafts: Notre Dame OG Quenton Nelson (# 6 in total), South Carolina State LB Darius Leonard (# 36 in total), Auburn OG Braden Smith (# 37 in total), Rutgers DE Kemoko Turay (# 52 in total), Ohio State DE Tyquan Lewis (# 64 in total).
Day 1 Class: A
Day 2 Class: B
Overall Rating: A-
The Skinny: GM Chris Ballard scored three-second round picks from the jets to move down only three slots. They still have Quenton Nelson, one of the top three players in the draft. He will be a pioneer in an organization that must protect its franchise player. Ballard turned three two-round picks (two from their aforementioned pre-draft trade-down) into good players. I thought there were better players than they picked Leonard and Smith early in the second round. Lewis did not have a great production last year, but he had a great junior season.

Jacksonville Jaguars
Draft Picks: Florida DT Taven Bryan (# 29 overall), LSU WR D.J. Chark (# 61 in total), Alabama S Ronnie Harrison (# 93 in total).
Day 1 Grade: A-
Day 2 Grade: A
Overall rating: A-
The Skinny: The Jaguars chose Bryan, though they have already a lot of talent on the defensive. But Philadelphia won a Super Bowl with a strong spin, and Bryan has some real potential that Jags coaches could use. They need an inside linebacker, but the players who were worthy of the position in the first round were already gone. Jacksonville had a good vertical threat towards the end of the second round in Chark and hopes he will be as good as Allen Robinson a few years ago. If he can be physical and win Downfield, Blake Bortles could be something special. Landing Harrison in the late third round was a breeze in terms of value. He will punish the ball carrier with impunity.

Tennessee Titans
Draft Picks: Alabama LB Rashaan Evans (# 22 in total), Boston College Edge Rusher Harold Landry (# 41 in total).
Day 1 Grade: A
Day 2 Grade: A
Overall Rating: A
The Skinny: The Titans really needed an Inside Linebacker after the Departing from Avery Williamson, Evans made sense. They had to go down two laps (they gave up a fourth year and got a six-thousander) to help the Patriots before Evans, but that's appropriate for an instant starter who can do much on the field. I can not get the Titans to send the Raiders to the third round to get Landry. He will sooner or later take over for Derrick Morgan or Brian Orakpo. You will find depth in other locations on Saturday and after the draft.

AFC West

Denver Broncos
Draft Picks: NC State Crusher Bradley Chubb (# 5 in total), SMU WR Courtland Sutton (# 40 in total), Oregon RB Royce Freeman (# 71 overall ), Boston College DB Isaac Yiadom (No. 99 in total).
Day 1 Grade: A
Day 2 Grade: A
Overall rating: A
The Skinny: Chubb was the best value on the board for this Team. Putting him and Von Miller on the same defense makes them dangerous again, as if DeMarcu's Ware and Miller were doing their thing. Case Keenum's two-year deal took QB out of the equation here, and Paxton Lynch still has a chance to become a starter. Sutton will be a playmaker on the next level because of his quick feet and size. The Broncos also needed a run back after letting C.J. Anderson go and found one in Freeman, who later in the 2017 season seemed more explosive. He could return to his former self after he got hurt. When he returns to form, the team gets a theft. Trading Aqib Talib meant the Broncos needed a corner of length. Yiadom is a good fit.

Kansas City Chiefs
Draft Picks: Mississippi LB Breeland Speaks (Number 46 Overall), Florida State DT Derrick Nnadi (# 75 in total), Clemson LB Dorian O & #; Daniel (# 100 a total of).
Day 1 Grade: A
Day 2 Grade: B-
Overall Rating: B +
The Skinny: The Chiefs had no pre-selection this year, because in 2017 they traded 17 places to get Patrick Mahomes. The young gunfighter did well enough in the past season that the team eliminated veteran Alex Smith this season. The Chiefs wanted a versatile defender in the second round, and they gave up a third round to get Speaks to fill the bill. Speaks has potential, and he has to fulfill it to make the trade-up worthwhile. Nnadi will be a good opponent, but can he influence the passing game so much that the decision of the team is justified in giving up the fourth round and advancing eleven places? With the last selection in the third round, the Chiefs added O & # 39; Daniel, who will play a hybrid safety / linebacker role. The value was about right and it will be an interesting fit.

Los Angeles Chargers
Draft Tips: Florida State S Derwin James (# 17 in total), USC LB Uchenna Nwosu (# 48 in total), NC State DT Justin Jones (# 84 in total) ,
Day 1: A
Day 2: C
Overall rating: B +
The Skinny: The Chargers let the design come to the first round and they have a great player in an emergency. Is not much better than that for a choice in the middle of the first round. James is fluid, hard and fast. I do not understand why he was still available at 17. The team wanted to improve their linebacker situation and it was the best available option for Nwosu in the second round. Will Malik Jefferson of Texas or Georgia Lorenzo Carter, both still on the board, turn out to be better players? We will see. They found their noses in the third round and picked Jones. That may have been a bit early for him, but we'll see if he can put it all together to be more than a spinning player.

Oakland Raiders
Draft Picks: UCLA OT Kolton Miller (No. (Total 15), Sam Houston State DT PJ Hall (No. 57 in total), North Carolina's A & T OT Brandon Parker (No. 65) Total), LSU DE Arden Key (No. 87 in total).
Day 1 Grade: C
Day 2 Grade: C-
Overall rating: C
The Skinny: With many first-rate defenders on the board, the Raiders took a sporting but inconsistent tackle in Miller and his tape did not bring him into the middle of the first round, and the team got a third and fifth round deal with Arizona, That's a plus, Hall was one of my favorite non-FBS players in the draft, but his promotion to the second round was amazing, I think, his speed and stubbornness will be reflected in the NFL Parker is in the first third raw and a little reach Especially for a team that had already chosen an offensive attack in the first round. The Raiders have a chance at Key, who struggled with problems and injuries during his college career. If he can fix things, maybe he'll use his length to become a potent pass rusher.

NFC East

Dallas Cowboys
Drafting Tips: Boise State LB Leighton Vander Esch (# 19 overall), Texas OG Connor Williams (# 50 overall), Colorado State WR Michael Gallup No. 81 in total).
Day 1 Grade: A-
Day 2 Grade: A
Overall rating: A-
The Skinny: Vander Esch is a talented off-roading ball Linebacker who can move on the outside and gets inside to find the ball. The Cowboys had to strengthen the position, but should they have found a pass-catcher here, because they were urgently in the right position and have their best? It's a good choice – if his neck is really no problem. Williams will probably play guard for the cowboys. He joins a nasty group and has the talent to make Pro Bowls. They found a future starter at Receiver with Gallup. His progress as a rookie will have a major impact on how the overtaking crime will happen in 2018.

New York Giants
Draft: Penn State RB Saquon Barkley (# 2 overall), UTEP OG Will Hernandez (# 34 overall), Georgia LB Lorenzo Carter (# 66 overall), NC State DT BJ Hill (# 69 in total).
Day 1 Grade: A-
Day 2 Grade: A
Overall rating: A-
The Skinny: Saquon Barkley was the # 1 prospect on the boards of many teams. Pass-Rusher Bradley Chubb, who was taken over by Denver three points later, may prove to be a better investment because of his reluctance to return, but there is no blame for Barkley. Hernandez is a brutal left guard who will show Barkley the way. They had a few veterans in them, but Hernandez was a good figure near the top of the second round. Carter can play the ball in cover and against the barrel. He will have to show the giants that he plays football. Hill will disturb things because of his defensive attack position.

Philadelphia Eagles
Drafting Tips: State of South Dakota TE Dallas Goedert (No. 49 in total).
Day 1: A
Day 2: A
Overall Rating: A
The Skinny: General Manager Howie Roseman used other teams by ignoring Lamar Jackson he was off the first round so Baltimore could pick him. He grabbed the second round of the Ravens 2019 and moved up in the second round on Friday night to make a close end that they could have taken in the first round: Dallas Goedert. He will be a great player in the Jimmy Graham form. The Eagles had given up their second round of the Browns to get Carson Wentz two years ago and sold their third all-rounder to Buffalo, giving them only two tips in the first three rounds.

Washington Redskins
Draft takes: Alabama DT Da & # 39; Ron Payne (# 13 in total), LSU RB Derrius Guice (# 59 in total), Louisville OT Geron Christian (# 74 in total) ,
Day 1 Class: B
Day 2 Class: A-
Overall Rating: B +
The Skinny: Payne was not overly prolific in college, but his ability to stop the run was badly needed for the league's worst running defense. If he continues to improve, he and former Tide teammate Jonathan Allen could be a great double strike. The Redskins seized the opportunity to run back to Derrius Guice, who was hard to beat in college. They needed a real ambulance in Washington, and now they have one who gets angry and no doubt wears a big chip on his shoulder to let in the train. Christian played both sides on the offensive by Bobby Petrino in Louisville, and his athleticism made fans of spies over the league. He has to increase his game to cope with the strength of pro-defensive goals.

NFC North

Chicago Bears
Drafting Tips: Georgia LB Roquan Smith (# 8 overall), Iowa C James Daniels (# 39 overall), Memphis WR Anthony Miller (# 51 a total of).
Day 1 Grade: A
Day 2 Grade: A
Overall rating: A
The Skinny: The Bears found much needed speed and talent for their own Defense with the addition of Smith. He is not a physical copy in the Brian Urlacher form, but still a force to be reckoned with. The Georgia star was the best player on the board for the eighth choice. Daniels will fit into the offensive line of bears wherever coaches can put him. If his knees are good, he will start in the league for a long time. They paid in the second round in 2019 and in the fourth round in 2018 to get a great recipient in Miller. He takes the place of Cam Meredith and could be a longtime starter because of his competitiveness.

Detroit Lions
Draft: Arkansas C / OG Frank Ragnow (20th overall), Auburn RB Kerryon Johnson (# 43 in total), Louisiana Lafayette DB Tracy Walker (# 82 in total).
Day 1 Grade: A
Day 2 Grade: C
Overall rating: B +
The Skinny: Detroit became stronger in the middle by Ricknow Who could now play guard or go in the middle if necessary. Anyway, he'll move the line of attack. Matthew Stafford feels better already. The Lions were so interested in Johnson that they had to give up a fourth place to go up eight places. That's a marginal value, though I expect Johnson to be a good back. Walker was selected two laps earlier than expected, but he has the skills to become a starter in the league.

Green Bay Packers
Draft Picks: Louisville CB Jaire Alexander (# 18 in total), Iowa CB Josh Jackson (# 45 in total), Vanderbilt LB Oren Burks (# 88 in total).
Day 1 Grade: A
Day 2 Grade: A
Overall rating: A
The Skinny: Also, with talented assurance, Derwin James at the board, the saints gave the packers a deal too rich to give up. It was a flop that we decided in 2019 in the first round. Alexander was the second-best corner in the draft on most team boards, though he had a shade over 5-foot-10. They gave up a third round to go up, but the net effect of the two trades is still positive and they have met their greatest need for position with a player who can be an above average starter. The team strengthened its secondary role with Jackson in the second round. The question is, did they choose two corners and ignore other needs? Scheduled with starter veteran Tramon Williams as starter this year, it was probably a good move. The rise for Burks cost her a fourth grader, but he adds athleticism, strength, versatility and intelligence. He will be a good start-up for you in a place that you urgently need to upgrade.

Minnesota Vikings
Drafting Tips: UCF CB Mike Hughes (# 30 overall), Pittsburgh OTT Brian O'Neill (# 62 overall).
Day 1 Class: A
Day 2 Class: B +
Overall Rating: A-
The Skinny: Terence Newman is no longer in the team and Mackensie Alexander needed competition in the slot, so the Vikings ignored the offensive line necessary to select Hughes. He is a great athlete with some off-field problems and just average size. He should be pricing in for the Vikings. O & Neil needs to become stronger in the lower body to prevent loss of leverage, but could end up being a good investment. GM Rick Spielman pulled out of the third round, but only by eight places, and won a sixth round in this process. Atlanta Falcons
Draft Tips: Alabama WR Calvin Ridley (# 26 overall), Colorado CB Isaiah Oliver (# 58 overall), South Florida DT Deadrin Senate (# 90 a total of).
Day 1 Grade: B +
Day 2 Grade: A
Overall rating: A-
The Skinny: Even though the crew had a need for defense that Taven could have met Bryan and others, it is hard to blame Thomas Dimitroff for having taken a good score in Ridley.

Carolina Panthers
Maryland WR DJ Moore (Nr. 24 insgesamt), LSU CB Donte Jackson (Nr. 55 insgesamt), Tennessee DB Rashaan Gaulden (Nr. 85 insgesamt).
Tag 1 Note: A
Tag 2 Note: A
Gesamtnote: A

New Orleans Saints
Draft Picks: UTSA Kantenbrecher Marcus Davenport (Nr. 14 insgesamt), UCF WR Tre'Quan Smith (Nr. 91 insgesamt).
Tag 1 Klasse: C-
Tag 2 Klasse: A
Gesamtnote: B

Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Draft Picks: Washington DT Vita Vea (Nr. 12 insgesamt), USC RB Ronald Jones (Nr 38 insgesamt), North Carolina DB MJ Stewart (Nr. 53 insgesamt), Auburn CB Carlton Davis (Nr. 63 insgesamt), Humboldt State OG Alex Cappa (Nr. 94 insgesamt).
Tag 1 Klasse: A-
Tag 2 Klasse: A
Gesamtnote: A-
Cappa is a starting guard for the Buccaneers sooner than later. He'll get after it in a big way.

NFC West

Arizona Cardinals
Draft picks: UCLA QB Josh Rosen (No. 10 overall), Texas A&M WR Christian Kirk (No. 47 overall), Michigan C Mason Cole (No. 97 overall).
Day 1 grade: A
Day 2 grade: A
Overall grade: A
The skinny: Rosen is the best pure pocket passer in the draft. The Cardinals need to protect him, but if they do, he'll be a Pro Bowler. Giving up third- and fifth-round picks was more than reasonable for a player with his potential. Kirk is an excellent fit, not only because of his skills but the impending retirement of Larry Fitzgerald. Cole brings versatility to the Cardinals, as he started at center and tackle for Michigan. He was picked a little early for my taste, but he'll be a consistent contributor on Sundays.

Los Angeles Rams
Draft picks: TCU OT Joseph Noteboom (No. 89 overall).
Day 1 grade: A
Day 2 grade: B
Overall grade: A-
The skinny: Les Snead pulled the trigger on a trade with the Patriots to land receiver Brandin Cooks, giving up the team's first-round pick and swapping a sixth-rounder for a fourth-round selection. Jared Goff is already thriving under coach Sean McVay, and now he has a very reliable pass-catcher in Cooks. This is a "win-now" move, which makes more sense than relying on a rookie receiver to help the offense. Snead gave up his second-round pick for Sammy Watkins, who played well for a year and then moved on. I'm sure that's not what the team had in mind when trading for him. Finally able to pick in the middle of the third round, the Rams get a swing tackle in Noteboom, who showed impressive movement last season. This was a good pick for a team needing depth at the position.

San Francisco 49ers
Draft picks: Notre Dame OT Mike McGlinchey (No. 9 overall), Washington WR Dante Pettis (No. 44 overall), BYU LB Fred Warner (No. 70 overall), Southern Mississippi S Tarvarius Moore (No. 95 overall).
Day 1 grade: C+
Day 2 grade: B
Overall grade: B-
The skinny: McGlinchey brings power in the run game, and if he can learn to be a better pass protector, the 49ers will have a great find. He's a solid player, but linebacker Tremaine Edmunds and safeties Derwin James and Minkah Fitzpatrick would have been better values. Armed with two second-round picks, they moved up to get Pettis, a competitive receiver/returner that was adequate value. Warner is a solid linebacker worthy of a third-round pick; he'll shore things up at whatever spot the team requires at the second level (Will, Mike, or Sam). Moore, a late-riser, is an athletic player with starter potential.

Seattle Seahawks
Draft picks: San Diego State RB Rashaad Penny (No. 27 overall), USC DE Rasheem Green (No. 79 overall).
Day 1 grade: D
Day 2 grade: B
Overall grade: C
The skinny: There was zero surprise the Seahawks traded down, as they expected their guys to be available later. Penny is a good back but picked too early. This is the modus operandi for the Seahawks in recent years, picking someone in the first round much earlier than most people project. And, in most cases, the picks haven't worked out. Seattle lost its second-round pick in a trade for Sheldon Richardson, which only turned out to be an unsuccessful one-year deal. Selecting Green in the third round was good value, and could be a steal like Michael Bennett was years ago. He should be a better pro player than he was in college.
