2019 Tony Award nominations: Hadestown and are not too proud to lead the pack



Nominations for the 2019 Tony Awards were announced on April 30. The entry into the season with the most nominations is Hadestown, which received a total of 14 nominations. Followed by is not too proud – The life of temptations with 12. The two titles in the coveted category "Best Musical" were Beetlejuice, The Prom, and . Tootsie.

Hadestown included 14 nominations for composer and librettist Anaïs Mitchell, alluding to director Rachel Chavkin and four to her interpreters: Eva Noblezada, Amber Gray, Andre De Shields and Patrick Page.

In Plays The two Ferryman and To Kill a Mockingbird garnered most nominations, each with nine, though only the first ran for the best game. This category is rounded off by Choir Boy, Gary: A sequel to Titus Andronicus, Ink, and What the Constitution means to me.

Tony Winner Bebe Neuwirth and Tony Candidate Brandon Victor Dixon announced this to artists and productions recognized by the New York Public Library of Performing Arts at the Lincoln Center. The 73rd Annual Ceremony will be broadcast by CBS at Radio City Music Hall on June 9th. James Corden will host.
