The 2019 Toyota Corolla hatchback has just bowed out at the New York Auto Show, and it was quite a journey to come here. The direct predecessor of this model began life under thenameplate, but after Toyota had canceled its youth brand, it incorporated the model into its portfolio and christened it . For this brand new second-generation model, the suffix "iM" is gone, and from now on, this five-door car will simply be known as a Corolla hatchback.
While his name may be more common, this new model is all but. This new car is indeed both stylish and much more interesting from a technical point of view. To keep costs down, Scion models were known to be basically available in a trim, but now that the second-generation model is a full-fledged Toyota, there's more tech, more trim and more options.
Despite the 201
In addition to its new platform, the Corolla hatchback also receives a new naturally aspirated "Dynamic Force" four-cylinder engine. Toyota is despite its displacement of 2.0 liters more compact and lighter than its 1.8-liter predecessor and at the same time quieter.
Toyota has not yet announced any energy or fuel consumption figures for the new M20A FKS engine, but we expect to know more about it before the car's purchase date.
The Corolla hatchback is offered with a new six-cylinder engine. Speed manual transmission (Huzzah!), Which provides speed adjustment, but the new continuously variable transmission Dynamic-Shift will undoubtedly be stated in a majority of models. The latter offers no less than 10 simulated speeds, and it also features a special sport mode and paddle shifters.
While we usually prefer the inclusion of manual transmissions at the roadshow, we can not wait to try this unique transmission for ourselves.
The redesigned Corolla Hatchback's cabin is dominated by a generously proportioned 8-inch infotainment screen as standard. So far we have not been enthusiastic about Toyota's Entune-based touchscreen systems, but this new v3.0 setup promises to get better, if only because Toyota's consumer demands for compatibility with Apple CarPlay (at least at this model) finally succumbed. Android car fans are still in the cold, but at least there is Qi wireless charging function.
More new and notable Cab Tech includes a 7-inch TFT-in-cluster display on high-end XSE models, along with an available 800-watt JBL audio system with Clari-Fi, a processing technology, which aims to reduce the tonal loss lost when compressing digital audio files.
The Corolla Hatchback 2019 will compete against today's surprisingly strong and diverse crop of liftback rivals, including theand of course the . To successfully fend off these models, the Corolla GT will also need a whole slew of advanced driver assistance systems, and fortunately it seems to have them.
All fairings come standard with Toyota Safety Sense 2.0, a suite of features such as pedestrian-controlled automatic emergency braking, intelligent cruise control, lane departure warning, lane departure warning and even high beam. With a new tracking assistant, the vehicle can follow the path of a preceding vehicle even if there are no lane markings on highways. Blind Spot Monitor is standard on Top Trim XSE and optional on Mid Grade SE models.
The Corolla hatchback 2019 will be on sale this summer, and pricing should be a bit closer to its appearance in traders. Considering the competitiveness of this car and where today's Corolla iM of 2018 sits, we would bet on spending just over $ 20,000 for beginners. We'll have a better understanding of the value of this car after getting this car at the next New York Auto Show next week, but for the moment, that seems pretty pleasant prices for a car with dramatically more content than its forbearer.
