2020 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat widebody receives 717 hp with Daytona 50th Anniversary Edition

Dodge's year-long relationship with motorsport and muscle cars has produced more than a handful of outstanding machines, notably the 1969 Charger Daytona. It was a style icon that triumphed on the racetrack, capturing the fans' appetite and helping shape the careers of Richard Petty, the most successful NASCAR rider of all time. The Dodge brand often pays tribute to their lineage and it is decided to do so again, but not for every ordinary model.

Instead, the automaker has used a Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat widebody and modeled it on the classic Daytona. The charged 6.2-liter V-8 does more.

The new Daytona 50th Anniversary Edition is in many ways a tribute to its historical predecessor. First of all, Dodge will build only 501

of it with its name and its production, just like the original model from 1969, due to NASCAR's minimum requirements for homologation.

The new Hellcat Widebody Daytona rocks far more power than the car it refers to, but has an output of 717 hp – about 342 more than the # 69; Dodge did not specify the maximum speed of the Hellcat-based machine, but in the standard Widebody version, it is limited to 196 mph due to its additional size. An additional 10 hp and some ECU tricks could help outperform the 200-mile mark, making it an even more fitting heir to the throne.

Daytona badges feature on the rear side panels and the boot lid of the car over a selection of exclusive colors: B5 Blue, Pitch Black, Triple Nickel and White Knuckle. These motifs translate into the interior, in which "Daytona" is embroidered in the backrests that support the heated and ventilated performance chairs in nappa leather and Alcantara suede. On the dashboard of each car is attached a special badge indicating the production number.

"The Dodge brand continues to set new standards with the world's most powerful and fastest production sedan, the Charger SRT Hellcat Widebody." said Tim Kuniskis, North American leader of FCA car brands. "With the launch of the limited-edition SRT Hellcat Widebody Daytona Charger, we both recognize the Dodge brand's heritage and remain true to our roots by offering powerful collectible vehicles that continue to defy trends and deliver achievable performance that can not be done anywhere else Find.

The high-performance special edition premieres on August 17 at the famous Woodward Dream Cruise in Pontiac, Michigan.
