3 things we learned in the San Diego Padres 2-1 win against the Arizona Diamondbacks

Manny Mania!

We knew that Manny Machado was good. We knew he could be the most talented player to ever wear a San Diego Padres uniform. He reminded us anyway.

First with the bat …

Then with the glove …

I am speechless.

Another Chris Paddack Special

Chris Paddacks 3 starts this season. he seems to be as consistent as one might hope …

  • 5 innings, 1 er. SF
  • 4 innings, 0 ER vs.. STL
  • 5 innings, 1
    ER vs. ARI

They hope that at some point he learns to achieve the same results with fewer gaps and can delve deeper into the games, but I do not argue with an age of 1.29.

Another MLB pitching debut

After his outstanding outing during the night, Pedro Avila was sent back to minors so Gerardo Reyes could get his squad place. Once again, the Padres relied on a pitcher who had spent no time and no limited time at the AAA level (Reyes has a total of three innings, all pitched at AAA this year). Once again, it worked out wonderfully.

Reyes received a ground-out and a joke to end the 6th inning, and he's sure to get some more opportunities to shape the Major League club this season.
