There is nothing better than to meet with the family for the holidays!
In honor of the eagerly awaited Sunday meeting between Brianna and Jamie, EW snapped the exclusive first photo of the Fraser family and the first official portrait of Brianna as a lady of the 18th century. The results are positive rosy!
We have also contacted executive producer Maril Davis to shoot the shooting scene for The Birds and the Bees. Here she said how Brianna (Sophie Skelton) met Jamie (Sam Heughan). for the first time.
ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY Did you like talking to Diana Gabaldon about seeing you again?
MARIL DAVIS Everyone calls it a reunion. In fact, sometimes I did it myself. They have never met! We did not talk specifically to Diana. The scene is quite similar to the book. It was important for us to get it right. We were looking forward to this scene when Jamie finally met his daughter. We had a lot of discussions with Sam and Sophie about it. I just love it. There's so much emotion there and for Jamie to see the daughter he heard so much about but never had a chance to meet … I think he's shocked and overwhelmed and excited and heartbroken. There are so many emotions that show on Sam's face. He does such an amazing job, as does Sophie.
What were the discussions about the music for the scene?
We had a lot of discussions with Bear [McCreary, the music creator] and at first there was a bit more music in the scene. He lays it down and then we weigh and determine where the music should be set and pull it back when we do need less. He hit a perfect tone.
Brianna and Jamie have a loving relationship.
It would be interesting to hear what Sam and Sophie felt about it, but for us we feel like Jamie loved Brianna since he found out she exists. I mean, sure, as soon as he sent Claire back with the stones, I do not think he had hope that he would survive and survive Claire and her child. I think since Claire returned, he realized, "Oh my God, I have a child and she lives and her name is Brianna," he loved. I think it deepens his love when he sees her in person. He already had it in his head, but I think he falls in love with her again. But even though there is love there, it will take a while to get to a place where both feel comfortable. Remember they know each other, but they have never met before. She loves Jamie but is still torn and feels loyalty to Frank. It will be a really interesting trip for both.
