Meghan McCain did not appreciate the unsolicited advice she received from former View co-host Sherri Shepherd.
Shepherd appeared on Sunday on "Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen" on Sunday and said current "View" host McCain should "light up."
"It just needs to evolve," Shepherd said. "She has to get used to sitting at this table and I think she does not have to take the whole republican world on her shoulders, it's too much."
She added, "You're not the republican voice. It makes you stressed, it makes you tense, I think I could cheer me up a bit. "
The Conservative co-host aired on the same Wednesday and told Cohen that Shepherd's words did not suit her well ,
"I was super disappointed when I saw her saying that," McCain said. "She said I need to light up, you know, The View, it's a tough show that's really politically difficult, we're a news show right now, it's not the show she once hosted, right now, and not to make it too difficult, but in Trump's America, we should not tell women to cheer them up, it's a serious time. "
" We can take things seriously. "
McCain shared similar sentiments on Twitter to which Shepherd replied "My Response to @Andy On #WWHL should be nothing but constructive. We have talked extensively privately and I was nothing but supportive of you and all those who co-host @TheView. If I did not find you supportive, that was not my intention. "
