Beth (Susan Kelechi Watson) and Randall Pearson (Sterling K. Brown) are one of the most popular couples on This Is Us. Her funny joke brightens up the often serious tone of the show and the fans can’t help but get involved with them.
The parents of two daughters, Tess (Eris Baker) and Annie (Faithe C. Herman), Randall and Beth, decide to record Deja (Lyric Ross). Read on to see some of Randall and Beth’s best parenting moments This is us.
1. Deja opens to Beth
When Deja gets used to living in a new house with a new family, she shares some details about her past with Beth. It’s a short moment, but it’s a big deal for Deja and her relationship with Beth because she was far away up to that point.

What we love most about this scene is how Beth Deja assures that it’s just the two and lets them know that it’s okay to open up to her. Beth also tells Deja that her hair problems – she has bald patches on her scalp that worsen when stressed – are common and not her fault.
2. Randall and Beth teach the girls the worst-case scenario
After seasons with the worst case scenario her Randall and Beth let the girls in. The couple move to Philadelphia and encourage Tess, Deja and Annie to share their biggest fears about the move.
Deja sets out to take the bus to school while Annie jokes that her friends have forgotten her. Tess says that she has no worries at all.

It’s a short scene, but it’s another great example of how Beth and Randall talk to their girls about what’s going on in their lives.
3. How they react to Tess coming out
After Tess briefly talks to her aunt Kate (Chrissy Metz) about her sexuality, she comes to her parents.
Tess stands in the kitchen before going to bed and says to Randall and Beth: “I think I like girls, not boys. I didn’t want to tell you because I didn’t want it to be something. ”
Beth and Randall don’t make it a “thing” and in a few words they show their support for Tess.

Beth replies, “We love you no matter what happens. Look at me. They see me? Look at your father. You see him Do you see anything other than two people who love you more than they could love anything around the world? “
When Tess goes up the stairs to the bed, Randall says that they will always be there if she wants to talk about it.
4. Beth advises Randall and Tess
Another moment of parenting comes when Beth talks to Randall and Tess about their experience of fear. She tells them it’s okay to take a moment and “wait for the bubbles to settle”.
We love that Randall does not claim to have his fear under control at all times. Instead, he sits in the kitchen next to Tess while Beth gives them advice.
