5 Protein Powder Top fitness coaches swear by • Gear Patrol

Getting the workout right is just as important as doing regular gym work – and recovery starts with a good protein powder. Protein is by far the most important macronutrient when it comes to getting your muscles off a workout. Ingestion shortly after exercise promotes muscle recovery and muscle growth and is an indispensable step for anyone with a fixed fitness goal.

In the market, there are a variety of brands that use a wide range of basic ingredients and grams of protein per serving to achieve different goals. The best way to speed up your recovery routine is to make sure that after training you not only take one protein, but one that fits your needs and prepares your body to recover for your next session.

Personal trainers spend hours in the gym working with clients to achieve their goals. This means that they probably know how different body types react to proteins ̵

1; and, most importantly, which ones taste best. We spoke with five personal trainers about the powders they love and their recipes for success (literally).

MFL Muscle Hydrolyzed Isolate Protein

Coach, stuntman and cirque actor Brennan Mejia is generally skeptical of protein powders and aims to hit most of his macros with food rather than dietary supplements. "Because dietary supplements are not normally regulated by the FDA, I always hesitate to rely too much on them," he says. However, if he has to achieve his protein goal for the day and the food did not make it, Mejia turns to MFL Muscle Hydrolyzed Isolate Protein. "It's produced in a GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) facility that has also been FDA-approved, free of many artificial ingredients in other protein powders and that uses Stevia as a sweetener." Protein mixes Strawberry Cake Flavor, which contains 30 grams of protein per scoop, with almond milk, blueberries, a banana and almond butter.

Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard Whey Protein

Joshua Habeck is a longtime trainer at Root 18 Crossfit, who keeps his protein fixation simple: "I've been to Optimum Nutrition's Gold Standard Whey Protein for about four years. It's the product I recommend to most of my clients. "The reason is simple: the price. "They offer a high-quality product at a relatively low price, which is quite large for me relative to the speed with which I work it." Habeck also considers it fundamental in terms of preparation to normally take it with water or sprinkle something about his oatmeal in the morning.

Plant Fusion Complete Protein

Vegan fitness fans will appreciate the powder of choice from coach Ryan Foray. Foray is a powerlifting and strength training specialist. He believes that many products are more filler than substance, but his surefire companion is Plant Fusion Complete Protein. The protein is vegetable, vegan and GMO free, which helps it to recover well. "Most of the time I only mix it with water, but if I have time, it's almond milk," he says. "Chocolate is my first choice – I have to feed the sweet-toothed monster in me."

Vega One Organic All-In-One Shake

Dominick Popolo is a bodybuilding trainer who needs a protein that helps build as much muscle mass as possible without adding unnecessary weight. He has also been vegan for about a year. Consequently, Popolo sticks to the Vega Organic all-in-one shake, preferably French vanilla flavor. "I feel that the ingredients for my stomach are less hard than for other powders," he says. Dominick's go-to-vega smoothie consists of almond milk, strawberries, bananas and Vega protein – with some creatine for a boost in the gym.

Apollo Pure Protein Powder

Sometimes massive increases in size are not the goal of a fitness routine or the associated regeneration program. The certified trainer Neil Thomas, who specializes in condition training, boxing and kettlebell training, knows exactly. Since he rarely tries to gain in size (and if possible, to avoid whey products), he usually recovers with BCAAs rather than with protein. They help him to build up strength without applying. When he includes whey protein in his extraction, he is a big fan of Unico Nutrition products. "Her things are by far the tastiest," says Thomas. "The transparency in terms of ingredients is great. While I'm not really against injecting horrible chemicals into my body, it's nice to know that I can achieve the desired results without them.
