SOFIA, Bulgaria – A doctor in Bulgaria says five people have life-threatening injuries after their tourist bus overturned on a highway, an accident that killed at least 16 people, according to the police were injured and 18 others injured
Dr. Nikolay Gabrovski spoke in Sofia's emergency room on Sunday.
The police said the bus is carrying 33 pilgrims from Bozhurishte Village and a driver on a weekend trip to a nearby Orthodox monastery. It overturned on Saturday and fell on a side street below the highway about 50 kilometers north of Sofia, the capital.
Police said 13 people died at the scene, including a 13-year-old boy, and three of the injured died in hospital
The government declared Monday the national day of mourning for bus victims
