6 people have received a fatal overdose within 24 hours in Cuyahoga County

CLEVELAND – The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office issued a public health alert after six deaths from overdose within 24 hours.

According to the authorities, there have been a total of 10 overdose deaths since Sunday.

See another group of obvious overdose deaths. Our recent experience shows that this is probably related to fentanyl, possibly also carfentanil. These dangerous drugs can be mixed with other medicines, such as cocaine or heroin, which greatly increases the risk of death, "said Drs. Thomas Gilson. "Naloxone kits, fentanyl test strips, and not taking any medications are some strategies that have been proven to save lives."

Anyone in need of a fentanyl test kit can pick one up at:

  • Circle Health Services, 1
    2201 Euclid Ave.
  • Care Alliance Clinic, 2916 Central Ave.
