So graceful, so beautiful, so deadly
It does not get much better than having a fan of a fighting game help create one of his favorite characters of all time, and that's what we have here with Kitana and Netherrealm Studios developer Steve "1
During today's Kombat Kast, Steve has been able to perform the Edenian Princess, and we've put together a series of clips for an accelerated collapse to give you a sense of how she plays here in her final iteration.
One of the first things Steve points out is the fact that Kitana's normals have been completely reworked, mostly because she almost always follows her signature fans.
He also notes that she retains some of her classic MK moves such as the fan swing and levitation, she also brings five or six brand new techniques to keep things fresh.
One of the first things we've noticed in their discovery is how they seem to be the most beautifully designed character in the game (which really says something). We see them both in regular and revival form and can only imagine where the custom costumes will stand.
Kitana is especially graceful in her movement, memorizing some almost rote attacks. The catch with these is that they are pretty hard to beat, so players must be sure that they will land or be punished:

Fan Toss and Fan Lift are back, but they have a new throat cut technique that can lead to a crushing blow:
In the air Kitana cal rips directly at her opponent or flutters to mess things up:
Projectile warfare is not discouraged as it absorbs fireballs and can briefly improve on all their fan attacks:
Edenian Razors is a technique that allows fans to fly around them, make the strings safe, and enable new corner combinations:
Finally, we see Kitana highlight the trademark sai that her sister Mileena normally uses. She can throw it in the air and has some options when it comes to doing damage:
