TUJUNGA, LOS ANGELES (KABC) –
A man and a woman riding a motorcycle were killed and killed on Friday afternoon in Tujunga.
Authorities said a motorcycle around 8:30 pm The driver drove west on Foothill Boulevard while a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe drove east. The driver of the Tahoe then made a left turn north on Valmont Street as the motorcyclist crashed into the SUV.
The effects of the accident caused the motorcycle to lose control and hit a parked car.
Firefighters responded to the scene and took the male driver to a nearby hospital, where he died of his injuries. His passenger was declared dead at the scene.
The authorities said the Tahoe driver had fled the scene on foot. The authorities seized the abandoned vehicle near the scene of the accident. The coroner's office identified the woman as 30-year-old Ariane Turek from Tujunga. Family and friends identified the man as James Bellissimo.
On Saturday night, loved ones at the scene of the accident kept a memorial to Bellissimo and Turek, who were engaged.
"If it's a comfort, it was a perfect time for them to get together and go together," said brother-in-law Ryan McKnight.
Bellissimmo was a veteran who served in Iraq. American flags were shown along with flowers and candles at the makeshift memorial.
The family and friends said Turek was the love of Bellissimo's life.
"I've known him for years and I've never seen him. He certainly found his soul mate and a person he wanted to share his life stories with," McKnight said.
He added that he appreciates the support of the community during the plight of the family.
"Everyone out there, everyone was already" So nice. We were on the phone all the time, so it was a very nice gathering, "he said.
McKnight also thanked the first responders who had done everything in their power to save Bellissimo's life.
As part of the City's hit and run program will be offered a $ 50,000 reward for identifying and arresting the suspect.
