Are foldable phones the wave of the future? Dye me skeptically, but apparently Samsung seems to believe this. At the company's unpacked event earlier this week, Samsung officially unveiled its long-discussed foldable smartphone, a device also known as Galaxy Fold. With a full-screen 7.3-inch display and a 4.6-inch display in the folded state, the device is undeniably fascinating. It remains to be seen, however, whether the Galaxy Fold will lead a new direction in smartphone innovation or simply be a ridiculous novelty like Google Glass.
Of course, the Galaxy Fold has led some experts to deal with praise Samsung for innovation and at the same time Apple for boring. Interestingly, Apple, believe it or not, has released patents related to foldable iPhone designs. An analyst from Bank of America said last year that Apple has already worked on a folding iPhone that could see the light of day by 2020.
Apple applies for patents for products it never publishes on a regular basis. Therefore, reading too much is probably not a good idea. Nevertheless, one can not ask what a foldable iPhone could bring to the market.
The people around ConceptsiPhone have recently put together a concept video that shows what a foldable iPhone could bring to the table. A lot looks cool, but to be honest, some of the ideas seem either pointless or so ambitious that they do not seem realistic for the time being. There's nothing wrong with a beautiful concept video, so enjoy the insanity below. [1
