A black man arrived late Friday evening at the entrance to the building where he lives in St. Louis, only to be blocked by a white neighbor who demanded he prove he lived there.

The last video shows Ms. Müller in front of his unit while Mr. Toles is standing in the doorway. "You just followed me all the way to my door," he says. "And you see my keys in the door."

"As a record I just want to say," Hello, what's your name? ", She begins to say before Mr. Toles interrupts her.

"Ma'am – you only – no, good night, ma'am," he says. "Do not ever do that again."

Ms. Müller's estranged husband Brandon Mueller said in an interview Sunday that he was shocked to learn about the encounter after receiving news and notifications on Facebook.

Next Facebook, Mr. Mueller, who has a black father and a white mother, published a video in which he said he was disappointed with what happened. He said he had been away from Ms. Muller for more than a year and had not lived in the Elder Shirt Lofts for a while.

He said that he did not approve of Mrs. Mueller's actions and that he had sent a woman to Facebook to notify Mr. Toles for support. Mr Müller said that Mr Toles treated the situation in an 'extraordinary way'.

Mr. Toles, who runs a marketing consulting firm, called on people not to molest Frau Müller.

"Some people think I should have pursued them better," he said. "I will not go after her. My whole purpose is to turn this negative into a positive.
