Kelly was arrested by the New York City Police Department, which will eventually take him to New York City, a police source told ABC News.

Darrell Johnson, Kelly's agent, said he will hold a press conference on Friday at 9:30 am Eastern Time.

The charges are the latest in a series of legal issues for Kelly this year. The real-name singer, Robert Kelly, is believed to face ten criminal sexual abuse cases involving four alleged victims following his arrest by the Sheriff Sheriff Division in March. He has not pleaded guilty to these allegations, some of which date back to 1998.

Kelly was last seen in Chicago on June 26, when the prosecution handed over a DVD allegedly containing pornographic images of the singer with a minor.

"We'll see what it shows," Kelly's attorney Steve Greenberg said in court last month.

No court action has been scheduled, but the judge said that a deadline for 2020 is likely. Kelly's next trial in this case is scheduled for August 15.

The 52-year-old has always rejected allegations of sexual misconduct.

He has also dealt with a number of problems related to the maintenance of children. He was detained for nearly a week in March for not supporting his three children with his ex-wife Andrea "Drea" Kelly for eight months.

The singer was acquitted in 2008 of earlier allegations of child pornography, five years after she was originally arrested for a video allegedly showing the singer with a minor girl.
