According to Watchdog, Trudeau violates the ethics law in the SNC-Lavalin case

OTTAWA – Canada's Ethics Commissioner said Wednesday that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau violated an ethics law when he and his associates urged the former Attorney General to settle a corruption case against a large engineering firm.

According to reports, Commissioner Mario Dion has used his office to "circumvent, undermine and ultimately discredit former Attorney General and former Attorney General Jody Wilson-Raybould", thereby breaking a long-standing tradition of separating the justice system from political interference.

The report comes just weeks before the official start of the election campaign for the Canadian National Election in October, when Mr Trudeau will continue his case for another term.

The political turbulence has hit Mr Trudeau since the reports appeared in February, Ms. Wilson-Raybould believed that the Prime Minister and his staff had unfairly pressured them to set up a bribe against the engineering firm SNC-Lavalin with a fine prevented a criminal conviction.

This is an evolving story and is being updated.
