Aerial photographs have recorded the consequences of a gas explosion in which one house was destroyed today and five others were "significantly damaged" in the north of Christchurch.

Five more houses were "badly affected" by the incident, 17 more by rubble.
Six people were pulled from the property after the explosion. Since then, they have been hospitalized and their condition ranges from serious to moderate. Dave Stackhouse, commander of Christchurch Metro's Fire and Emergency New Zealand, reported 1 NEWS.
