Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Executive Producers Jeff Addiss and Javier Grillo-Marxuach spoke with Showbiz Cheat Sheet about the show in Los Angeles. "Some of these characters, like Rian, came from the YA novel and even before that came from an animated version of the show," Addiss said. "Then we optimized that character."

Addis, Matthews and Grillo-Marxuach have invented several new species in the world of Thra.
"We created all the cloth of the Grunaks because we had the idea that they would have their mouths sewn shut," Addiss said. "So we needed something new."
