Airline employees dismissed after separation become physical

(News)

Two employees of Republic Airways were arrested and dismissed after they split up at the end of a flight, according to the authorities, and the situation had changed. Police say 36-year-old William Thomas and 29-year-old Marisha Sporer landed at Denver International Airport on the morning of September 13, when Sporer asked to use Thomas's phone and apparently something on it saw that angered her. After a verbal fight that ended in the breakup, Thomas allegedly sat in the cockpit of the plane, and Sporer, after initially heading to the gate, returned to the cockpit to face him. The subsequent confrontation with the jetway was captured on a surveillance video that FlyerTalk first released on Tuesday after a tipster sent it.

Police say Sporer grabbed Thomas by his necktie and hit him three times, and then Thomas hit her in the ribs. The video seems to show the slaps, followed by Thomas, who beats Sporer on the upper body and apparently slaps her face. NBC News reports that he is leaving, while ABC News says that Thomas spits on Sporer in the face of slaps. Police say both were injured but not treated in a hospital. They were jailed on 1

3 September and have since been released on bail. They are accused of attacking and disturbing the peace – and they have lost their jobs when Republic said in a statement that the behavior was "unacceptable". Fox News notes that it is not clear what her jobs were, but says that Sporer appears to be disguised as a flight attendant in the video; Several outlets identify Thomas as a pilot.
