"We hurt him so much," Gaur tweeted. "When Final Jeopardy showed up, I could have tried to puzzle it out, but really, I just kept thinking about Alex."
Gaur was glad he said "what everyone thought at the tournament."
Last month, he teamed with the World Pancreatic Cancer Coalition to make a video that encourages people to wear purple in November and spread the disease and its symptoms on social media support.
Pancreatic cancer is often undiagnosed until late in life.
