ALGIERS, Algeria – The Algerian government rejects union calls to delay the start of the new school year due to a cholera outbreak that causes two deaths and infected dozens.
Health Minister Mokhtar Hasbellaoui insisted that "the situation is completely under control."
Following a hospital visit on Sunday, he said the outbreak would be eradicated within days.
He said he understands the concerns of the unions in the education sector, but added that he does not share them the school calendar would be respected.
Classes continue on September 5th.
