Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos recently gave a glimpse into his other company's plans to colonize Blue Origin and more.
During this year's International Space Development Conference, he told media group GeekWire that people must leave Earth and "it will make the planet better". He says that people can still come and go, but until then the earth will have some limitations.
Bezos predicts that Earth will be used for residential and light industry applications in about 100 years. That's because, he says, it's easier to do heavy industrial tasks in space, mainly because of constant solar energy.
In the meantime, Blue Origin plans to build a lunar module that can carry five tons of cargo. This is a crucial first step to colonizing the moon. Bezos would like NASA's help with the Lunar Land Project, but says his company plans to build one way or the other.
"But we could do it much faster if there was a partnership," Bezos said.
