Amazon (amzn) still has not announced which lucky city will be the location of the HQ2, but that did not prevent many people from finding it out.
First, Wells Fargo's AI program predicted that Boston would most likely emerge victorious. Then, the Puget Sound Business Journal indicated that Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos' flight records show his private jet has repeatedly traveled to Ronald Reagan's Washington National Airport in Arlington, Virginia – an airport near three final cities.
And now, ATTOM Data Solutions has managed to rank 19th among the 20 finalist cities (excluding Toronto, Canada) based on housing and quality of life.
There are some surprises. While Boston was regarded by many as a favorite, the city of New England was at the bottom of ATTOM's list, lacking affordable housing and poor school tests. New York was penultimate, especially because of its high housing costs.
At the top? Raleigh, North Carolina. With affordable homes, above-average grades, and below-average crime rates and property taxes, ATTOM Data Solutions gave Raleigh the number one spot.
After Raleigh, Atlanta came in second. Pittsburgh, Nashville and Austin rounded off the top five.
And what about the three cities in Washington that are near Reagan airport? Montgomery County, Md., Made it into the top ten with 9th place. Washington, D.C. came with the number 1
