Amtrak's Great Dome Car wanted to enjoy fall foliage in New England



This fall, one of the most unique ways to see fall foliage could be found aboard an Amtrak train.

For a limited time only, the company brings its iconic Great Dome Car back to service in two parts of New York, England and Canada. The car, the only one of its kind left in the Amtrak service, has vaulted upper-level windows that offer drivers panoramic views of the landscape.

The Great Dome Car number 10031 will service the Downeaster Line (Brunswick-Portland-Boston) from August 11th to September 23rd and the Adirondack Line (Montreal-Albany-New York) from September 27th to October 2nd. November.

Built in 1955, the country's unique railroad car has been providing regular service along Chicago-Seattle, Washington, DC-Orlando and other routes for decades. Since its last renovation in 1

999, the car has traveled various scenic routes with limited engagements across the country. It served last year on the Pacific Surfliner Route in Southern California and has also recently traveled the Hiawatha Service and Lincoln service routes through the Midwest during the holiday season.
