Android Auto is designed to simplify making phone calls so you can keep track of things, but this simplification can sometimes go too far. That's why Google gives you the ability to see your full contact list. This means that there are now four ways to call someone while connected to Android Auto.
Previously, you could use the wizard to dial from your call logs (favorites, recent calls, received calls, missed calls) or dial manually to call someone. But sometimes it's easier to have access to a complete contact list. To access it, simply press the Hamburger menu in the upper left corner and select "Contacts". When your car is stopped, you can surf as long as you like, even though you are restricted after a few taps while you are on the move.
