Passengers aboard a United Airlines flight from Italy to New Jersey were intercepted thanks to an invasion of ants in the cabin.

The swarm managed to find its way into first grade, NBC New York said.
A United spokesman said the ants were isolated in a passenger's travel bag, and the insect bug was "contained in a limited area of the cabin," the network reported.
The aircraft was decommissioned when it arrived in Newark shortly after 2pm Monday, so it can be cleaned and eradicated.
The airport's customs and agricultural staff were alerted, the spokesman said.
