It's hard to believe, but Shark Week has been a TV for more than 30 years. The annual program block on the Discovery Channel is one of the most sustainable events on television. And it continues to be a rating juggernaut, attracting 34.9 million viewers by 2018.
This year's Shark Week begins on Sunday, July 28, and lasts until Sunday, August 4. Haifans can adjust to more than 20 hours of original programming, including a brand new movie about a terrible encounter with real-life sharks.
"Capsized: Blood in the Water" will air on July 31st.
This year, Discovery brings something new to Shark Week. The network will be broadcasting its very first original Shark Week screenplay in feature length.
Capsized: Blood in the Water stars Josh Duhamel and tells the true story of a 1982 shark encounter when a yacht capsized in Florida and their crew drifted in the Atlantic Ocean, preying on hungry sharks.
The film also features Tyler Blackburn, Rebekah Graf, Beau Garrett and Josh Close. It will air on Wednesday, July 31 at 9 / 8c.

The Shark Week begins on July 28 with Expedition Unknown: Megalodon at 8 pm. ET and closes the 4th of August with additional presentations of the best shark programs of the week.
The originals of this year's Shark Week are Legend of Deep Blue, where shark experts Brandon McMillan and Jimi Partington return to Guadalupe Island to continue their search for perhaps the world's largest white shark, ]] Extinct or Alive: The Lost Shark, where the wildlife biologist and animal tracker Forrest Galante travels to the Indian Ocean to search for the supposedly extinct Pondicherry shark, which was last seen in the 1970s.
Also on deck is Isle of Jaws: Blood Brothers, with a team of shark explorers returning for the third time to a remote island off the Australian coast to investigate two brother sharks. and Andrew Mayne: Ghost Diver, who follows the illusionist and inventor as he puts on a unique shark suit to overcome the feeling of a great white man.
