Peggy Noonan, Wall Street Journal columnist, wrote a column published on Thursday examining the influence and efforts of MP Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to shape the Democratic Party and moderate circles from an "absolutely safe neighborhood" to call. Noonan wrote that Ocasio-Cortez and other members of "The Squad" have proven themselves in the social media and have "completely broken through and made a name for themselves". But not without a price that other party members have paid and that does not have the advantage of coming from a district that offers "work safety that no democratic moderator can feel".
"Nancy Pelosi said a glass of water could be elected in her district if it were a Democrat, and that's true," she wrote.

Noonan wrote that the influence of Ocasio-Cortez will return in the future to bite Democrats. "For all these reasons Ms. Ocasio-Cortez was destructive of her party's chances in 2020. She's a one-woman committee to re-elect the president, "she concluded. Ocasio-Cortez was cheered on by a pro and taught by Big Mama," Noonan wrote. "If she were able to observe, reflect, and absorb instead of being aggressive, responding, and blaming, she could learn something."
