Respawn launches the first season of the new Battle Royale Apex Legends game tomorrow, March 19th, with the release of the First Season Battle Pass. This is also the day the game's latest playable legend, Octane, will arrive, but you'll have to buy it separately if you want to try it out.
Although he has been heavily promoted by Apex Legends alongside Season 1 Battle, Respawn has confirmed that Octane is not part of it. Instead, it is sold by Mirage and Caustic for 12,000 Legend Tokens or 750 Apex coins through the In-Game Store. The first currency can be purchased through gameplay while the latter is bought with real money. When you sign up for EA / Origin Access, you will receive some free Apex coins.
Prior to the release of Octane, Respawn has released some more details about the new legend on the PlayStation blog. Octane is equipped with metal legs after he burned himself during a "record speed run". He is a thrill that uses "death-defying moves". With his Adrenaline Junkie ability, Octane is able to swap health for speed, and his Ultimate Launch Pad can make the squad fly through the air.
While Octane was officially confirmed for the first time, players have already confirmed it for several weeks. The character's existence had been leaked before, most credibly when a picture of him appeared on the Origin website. Respawn also annoyed his impending arrival by placing his jump pads near Market.
