"Apparently," America wanted a fuckin for a president

Jimmy Carter is as baffled by the results of the 2016 US presidential election as any other Democrat.

On Friday, the former president passed The Late Show and made a few shots on current President Donald Trump. Host Stephen Colbert asked Carter: "Will America have an idiot as president?" Carter responded, "Apparently from the last election, yes, I never knew it before."

When Colbert pressed Carter for the qualities that make a good president, the 93-year-old sneakily replied, "I always thought it's the truth, but I've changed my mind lately. "Carter did not explicitly name Trump as President, who was not so honest, but Colbert and the audience seemed to be getting Carter's drift.

Colbert jokingly tried to negotiate Carter's return to the White House, hoping the former president could run in 2020. "I think there's an age limit," laughed Carter.

Colbert also asked Carter whether he was pleased to see Trump Carter and the other former power-making presidents like George W. Bush and Bill Clinton look better. "I do not know about the rest of them," Carter said.

Later, Carter turned back to Trump, this time with a diplomatic approach, when the host asked if Carter retained Trump in his prayers.

"I pray that he will be a good president and that he will keep our country in peace and that he will refrain from nuclear weapons and that he's pro human rights, "said Carter. "So yes, I pray for him."

Earlier this week, Carter said in an appearance on CBS Sunday Morning that he did not want Trump to be charged, even if the investigation by Special Counsel Robert Mueller notices misconduct of the president. (Although he realized that it was a possibility when it came to an indictment.) "My own preference would be that he is not charged," Carter said, "but that he can serve his term because I believe he does it wants to do a good job, and I'm ready to help it if I can help it, and to give it the benefit of the doubt. "

The former president is making media rounds recently for his new book to advertise] Faith: A journey for all which came on March 27 on the shelves.
