The letter focuses on the recent improvements made to the construction of Apple Park, a $ 175 billion facility covering more than 12,000 of the company's integral employees , Notably, Apple contributed more than $ 70 million in "public benefits" related to the newly completed campus.

Road and crosswalk improvements at Bubb Road were cited, as well as the construction of the $ 108 million Visitor Center and Apple Park Apple Store. Apple Park's original plans did not include the auxiliary building, which was built in 2015 at the behest of community applications.

Apple also points to efforts to help alleviate traffic in and around Apple Park. More than 25 percent of employees use "alternative transportation," Raspe said. Details were not mentioned, but the company began working on projects designed to handle increased surface traffic, such as bike and walkway improvements, from at least 2013.

Raspe said Apple continues to work with city and regional partners on other transports.

"In order for Cupertino and Apple to evolve, we need to rely on both long-term and short-term solutions that make our residents and employees more efficient and effective," the letter says.

Raspe did not mention Cupertino's potential employer tax, but the timing of the letter leaves little doubt as to the motives of the company. Apple declined to comment on this topic.

The City Council of Cupertino is trying to raise up to $ 10 million by charging a fee per employee to large-cap companies. Among the measures envisaged is a model that provides for a tax of $ 425 per employee on companies with at least 5,000 employees, the report said.

Last month the city council voted to vote the tax proposal of November. If the city council approves the measure on Tuesday, voters will have the opportunity to vote on it in a 2019 special vote.
