Apple will soon require all App Store apps to have a privacy policy

Apple requires all new apps and updates from apps to link to developers' privacy policies in the App Store, the developer told developers as discovered by 9to5Mac . Previously, all subscription-based apps in the App Store had to reference their privacy policies. Now, however, the rule applies to all apps.

Technically, Apple has not determined that existing apps must follow the new rules, only that future updates will need to list a link to privacy policy. According to 9to5Mac developers must declare in the privacy statement what data their app collects, how and how it is used. You must also specify your data retention policies in detail and how users can disable and delete their personal information.

The rules will take effect on October 3. Apple says that current software without policies will not be removed from the App Store, but they will need to link to software if they deliver an update after that date.

After the DSGVO was fully enforced on May 25 and Facebook suffered the consequences of its major data breach related to data breaches in March, data protection has become more important to technology companies. This new rule seems to be that Apple is trying to meet greater expectations in terms of transparency in handling user data and to regulate developers.
