Moscow, 29.10.2018 (The People Online) – A team of Hungarian astronomers and physicists confirmed the existence of two elusive dust clouds that are only 400,000 kilometers from Earth (19659-6) clouds Discovered between the Earth and the Moon by the Polish astronomer Kazimierz Kordylewski about half a century ago, it is extremely difficult to observe because of its low density and brightness that the fact of its existence has been questioned by scientists.
Thanks to new observations, the results of which have been published in the Monthly Reports of the Royal Astronomical Society, researchers can not only study this phenomenon but also determine if cosmic dust could threaten future space missions.
According to the study, researchers conducted a computer simulation to determine the properties of clouds and their formation. The scientists created a model that included the Earth-Moon-Sun system and dust particles and observed how it would evolve for 3,650 days. In addition, astronomers have tried to determine what the clouds would look like when viewed with polarizing filters that isolate the natural light rays with a particular orientation of the electric vector.
On the basis of this data, the scientists made observations of the system, which has five points of stability, where the gravitational forces maintain the relative position of the objects in the private observatory of Sliz-Balogh in Hungary. The results showed that the possible location of the Kordylewski cloud is at point L5.
The images of astronomers show the polarized light that is reflected in the dust. In addition, the data from the new observations are consistent with the previous findings six decades ago. The researchers also succeeded in eliminating optical artifacts and other sounds and confirming their existence.
