On Friday Ariana Grande returned to the music world with her optimistic single "No Tears Left to Cry". The singer followed the premiere with a beautiful, stunning video and debuted the song live during a surprising Coachella performance – all on the same day. Now she gives the fans a glimpse of how all the stunts of her new video went.
The material behind the scenes is published in two parts – the first was staged by Alfredo Flores. The official "No Tears Left to Cry" video was led by music video director Dave Meyers, who also directed Kendrick Lamar's "Humble" video and often collaborated with Missy Elliott. The director gave his opinion on what the video wanted to achieve. "The concept we wanted to explore was the disorientation you experience in life and the search we all go through to find the ground again," Meyers said.
"We flirt with the ambiguity of whether you need it to find the ground or if the ground is exactly what you make of it," he continued.
In the behind-the-scenes clip, fans learn how Grande walked in the intro for "No Tears Left to Cry" on the ceiling and on the walls ̵
Grande also depends on a free-floating staircase in a city from the future. The BTS clip shows that the city was added in post-production and the singer was connected to dishes in front of a green screen. During the second shot for this scene, one of Granes heels falls off – but the crew quickly found him and the show continues.
