LITTLE ROCK (KATV) – If you have not had your flu shot, Arkansas is now number three in the nation for the most proficient flu cases.
Walgreens' latest influenza index tracks the number of prescriptions for Tamiflu that have helped identify the Little Rock and Pine Bluff area.
The Arkansas Ministry of Health told the KATV that they are not surprised that this high ranking for the state is achieved.
"We do not have the best flu vaccines in this part of the US," Dr. Jennifer Dillaha, ADHS Medical Director for Vaccination.
"The H3N2 that is now in circulation has a slight difference, and although the vaccine is really good at it, it is not perfect, so we see people with breakthroughs," she added.
63 Arkansans have died from the flu, and this number is much lower than at Wh In the health department of last year, health experts hoped that more people would be vaccinated.
"People who get the flu vaccine can still get the flu and people need to understand it. We want the vaccine to be more effective than it is, but we know the vaccine, even if the flu is ill, can give its immune system enough head start. "
