Asteroid size of the Empire State Building to pass the earth on Saturday night



After an asteroid safely flies past Earth on Friday, it is expected that another asteroid, possibly larger than the Empire State Building, will pass until Saturday night.

2000 QW7, the tall asteroid, was supposed to whiz across the earth at 19:54. EUROPEAN SUMMER TIME. NASA estimates that the object is 950 feet to 2,100 feet tall. By comparison, the Burj Khalifa building in Dubai is 187 meters high, the Shanghai Tower is 187 meters high, and the Empire State Building extends 400 meters into the skyline of Manhattan, at 23.42 PM EUROPEAN SUMMER TIME.

"These asteroids have been well observed since 2000 and since 2010, and their orbits are well known," said Lindley Johnson, planetary defense officer and program director of the Planetary Defense Coordination Office at NASA in a statement. "These two asteroids are about 14 lunar months away from Earth or about 3.5 million miles from Earth, but small asteroids are moving so close to Earth all the time." but it is not expected to pose a threat to the planet.

"Large asteroids pass through the earth several times a year and only pose a threat when direct contact with our planet is actually expected," Johnson told ABC News earlier.
