At least four people were hospitalized, and several were not known after a massive explosion and a fire that had flattened a factory in Waukegan on Friday night.  Emergency crews responded at 9:30 pm Friday, AB Specialty Silicones, 3790 Sunset Avenue, Waukegan, for a reported explosion.
The factory was reportedly set ablaze by the explosion. Residents across Lake County reported that they felt and heard the explosion from several miles away.
Waukegan city authorities warned people to stay away from the scene while the task forces were working
Waukegan Fire Marshal Steve Lenzi said at least four people had been taken to regional hospitals Service. Your conditions are not known at this time.
Several factory workers are not included, Lenzi added, adding that the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Firefighters from all over Lake County and Cook County were called to the scene. AB Specialty Silicones is a manufacturing and distribution company specializing in the manufacture of raw silicone products.
From Saturday, 12:25 pm, the fire continues to burn. Debris from the explosion covered Sunset Avenue near Northwestern Avenue as scores of firefighters remained on site.
