More than 25,000 people are reportedly in northern Georgia as storms without electricity move through trees and power lines.
Trees and power lines are in Cherokee County, and there are reports of lightning striking two houses.
Cumming's residents report frequent flashes, strong winds, and nickel-sized hail.

6:34  A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect for Barrow, Gwinnett, Hall and Walton County in GA until 7:15.

Burns said the main area of concern for these storms would be mainly to the east and southeast of Athens, down to Eatonton and around the lake, near Lake Oconee.
"You really have to wait for possible heavy or severe thunderstorms," Burns said.
Late Saturday night things will decline again.
Burns said the biggest storm threats throughout the evening and Saturday will be a modest chance of hail, a high probability of frequent cloud-to-ground blasts and a high probability of damaging winds.
The rain will continue until the beginning of the new week, with rain probabilities every day until at least Wednesday.
