The Swedish DJ and producer Avicii – the native Tim Bergling – died on Friday in Muscat, Oman at the age of 28 years
Swedish electronic dance music DJ Avicii, 28, died Friday afternoon in the Persian Gulf nation of Oman, according to a statement from his Representative
"It is with deep sorrow that we announce the loss of Tim Bergling, aka Avicii," states Diana Baron's statement, Variety, and Billboard . "He was found dead this Friday afternoon, April 20, in Muscat, Oman, the family is devastated, and we ask everyone to respect the need for privacy at this difficult time, and no further statements are made."  While the cause of his death is unknown, Bergling struggled with medical problems in the years following his hospitalization in January 2012 due to acute pancreatitis, which led to a series of exhibition refusals that culminated with his gallbladder and cecum removed in 2014.
Avicii found worldwide success with tracks such as Wake Me Up and Levels before retiring for health reasons in 2016
However, the DJ remained active in the studio and v released his last EP AVĪCI (01) in 2017. Few days before his death, he celebrated AVĪCI (01) 's nomination for a Billboard Music Award for Top Dance / Electronic Album, thanked the BBMAs on Twitter
Born Tim Bergling, he took over the stage name Avic ii after I mentioned it by a friend. In a video interview with VEVO Lift he explained the story of his artist name. "The name Avici means the lowest level of Buddhist hell," he added, adding that he's an extra "I & # 39; had checked, because when he tried to claim the name on MySpace, it was already taken.

After breaking the news of his death on Friday afternoon, social media musicians mourned his death and shared news of shock and grief.
