AWS, Amazon's Cloud Computing Branch today announced the beta launch of AWS Chatbot, a chatty little boy who slips into your Slack and Amazon Chime channels and discusses issues with your AWS Resources.  It's hard to imagine that DevOps teams do not use slack tools or similar tools. So it's a bit of a surprise that AWS, which has long been providing all the tools for creating chatbots, has not previously started a similar service.  The bot is connected to the Amazon Simple Notification Service (SNS), which you can use to integrate it with other AWS services. Currently, this list includes Amazon Cloudwatch, AWS Health, Budgets, Security Hub, GuardDuty, and CloudFormation. This is not exactly every AWS service, but it covers most of the basics for companies that want to keep track of their AWS deployments.

At the moment it all seems like a one-way street. You can receive notifications to Slack, but at least in the beta you can not return commands to AWS yet. This means that this chatbot likes to talk but does not listen much. However, it is likely that we will see more of this functionality once general availability is reached.
