It's not another 3D platformer, but this announcement could be just as exciting. Confirmed today at the E3 2019 Nintendo Direct, Banjo-Kazooie – meaning Banjo the Bear and Kazooie the Breegull – are the biggest party in video games: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. The duo rubs their shoulders and exchanges fists and feathers with Mario, Donkey Kong and Pikachu, as well as other guest characters such as Joker from Persona 5, the hero of Dragon Quest, who were announced at the same presentation. In traditional Nintendo fashion, the revelation did not come without a "Gotcha" moment. The announcement trailer began when Donkey Kong and his buddy Diddy chilled with their arch-nemesis King K. Rool when they were surprised by something. It's a little gold ̵
If you're familiar with Banjo-Kazooie, their fighting style in Smash Bros. Ultimate will not be that many surprises. Banjo will be knocking, Kazooie will fire eggs and help Banjo hover, sprint and charge with her wings. Even the jinjos of the series can be seen in the last smash from BK. Banjo-Kazooie will be available in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate from fall 2019.
The news was particularly notable as Banjo and Kazooie are characters from Rare, which is owned by Microsoft. Of course, Nintendo was the original publisher of the banjo series.
Banjo-Kazooie was not the only character to be announced today – Japanese RPG fans can look forward to the Hero of Dragon Quest, which will be released in the summer of 2019. Hero will fight with a sword, a shield and a series of magical spells. The hero can also take the form of the Dragon Quest 3, 4, 8 and 11 protagonists. For more information about him, see our story.
In our Super Smash Bros. Ultimate review, we said, "On inconsistent online mode and situation downers, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate does not stop to shine as a flexible multiplayer game that runs so freely or so hard it's not just a tribute to the games played on Nintendo consoles, Ultimate features rich content, sophisticated mechanics and a great collection.
