Bay Area County to pay infected people to quarantine

August 6, 8:45 a.m. To help contain the spread of the coronavirus, Alameda County is running a pilot program to pay people who test positive for COVID-19 to stay home from work.

The effort is aimed at people who cannot afford to stay at home and who are not entitled to unemployment benefits or sick leave.

Alameda County’s regulators approved a $ 1,250 scholarship and clinical trials for COVID-19 will refer people who may benefit from the program.

“In the truest sense of the word, every single person we spoke to about our contract tracking program asked for food, rent help, or access to health care,” said Andrea Schwab-Galindo, CEO of Hayward’s Tiburcio Vasquez Health Center said CBS News.
