Bellator 226 results: Ryan Bader's first heavyweight title defense decided a no-contest

Bellator's champion champion Ryan Bader climbed into the cage of Bellator 226 in San Jose, California on Saturday night to reach the first defense of his heavyweight championship. He did not lose his belt to his UFC veteran Cheick Congo, but he did not defend him.

The fight seemed to be in Bader's way when he marked Congo with a few strokes before finally taking a takedown. He put down a heavy dose of soil and pounds before accidentally placing a finger in Congo's eye.

The referee entered and called the ring doctor to examine Congo's eye. When it was assumed that he could not see, the fight was stopped and no contest was decided.

After the fight, Congo's team-mate Quinton "Rampage" Jackson got into a dispute with Bader, but the two were previously separated. Any significant altercation could take place.
