Benedict Cumberbatch could not be accused of filming Avengers: Infinity War which was recently inaugurated by the splitting-time filming Patrick Melrose (Showtime, Saturday, 9 ET / PT)

However, since the roles were so different – Infinity War 's neurosurgeon wizard Dr. Strange and Melrose & # 39; s Title The movie sets were thousands of miles apart, it was not difficult to keep them separate, says Cumberbatch.

"They are literally in different places and completely different genres, so I was happy to focus on something else," he says. "At the beginning of the Infinity War there was a bit of madness, because we were making pickups for The Current War so that was three jobs that surpassed each other."

[Thereleaseof The Current War in which Cumberbatch plays Thomas Edison was scheduled for the end of 2017, but was postponed after producer Harvey Weinstein

It helped that Cumberbatch was not so involved in one of the five Melrose episodes because it focused on a nine-year Patrick from Sebastian Maltz. Melrose is based on five semi-autobiographical novels by Edward St. Aubyn

"There were a good five weeks in which I was not involved (in Melrose ) and that was partially in Georgia used to do a bit of Doctor Strange in the Avengers movie, he says.

Cumberbatch does not like spoiling details for viewers, but he's a little more lenient with Melrose.

"It's not like I'm revealing the secrets of another little movie happening right now," he says, maybe the only Infinity War will be "another little movie" called. With the Marvel box-office hit Marvel's anti-spoiler philosophy "tries to make people leave something surprising when they buy the ticket and watch the movie."

For Melrose he calls this a redemption story, as it follows Patrick from the depths of addiction to a chance for salvation that includes marriage and paternity. "Sorry, if that's a spoiler, but the books are available," he said.
