The New England Patriots came from the 1st day of the NFL Draft in 2018 with an offensive lineman who could play guard, tackle, and a run back.

Neither the inner O line nor the runback was seen as an area where New England was used (though left tackle was safe). The Patriots still have a lot of points on Friday, which fit into the second and third round.

Below is an updated look at the needs of the Patriots and the best players available to them anywhere. The Pats currently have three day 2 choices: # 43, 63 and 95.

QUARTERBACK
From the Board: Baker Mayfield, Sam Darnold, Josh Allen, Josh Rosen, Lamar Jackson
Still available: Mason Rudolph of Oklahoma State, Richmond Kyle Lauletta, Luke Falk, Washington State, Mike White, Kentucky

Despite reports of strong interest in Jackson, the Patriots broadcast the winner of the Heisman Trophy 2016 twice in the second round of the first round on Thursday night. Lauletta has long been regarded as a perfect patriot prospect, but it is unclear if the team feels the same. New England was reportedly drafting Lauletta, Rudolph, Falk and White during the preliminary draft. NFL Media Draft expert Daniel Jeremiah said on Friday in "The Dan Patrick Show" he would be "surprised" if the Patriots did not write a QB on the 2nd day.

LINEBACKER
From the Board: Roquan Smith, Tremaine Edmunds, Leighton Vander Esch, Rashaan Evans
Still available: Lorenzo Carter of Georgia, Jerome Baker of Ohio State, South Carolina Darius Leonard, Texas & # 39; Malik Jefferson, Fred Warner of BYU, Josey Jewell of Iowa, Oren Burks of Vanderbilt.

The top tier of the linebackers has been eliminated, and the Tennessee Titans trade down to # 22 to drive Evans away from the Patriots. However, there are many interesting day 2 options. Carter – former college teammate of Patriots First-Rounders Isaiah Wynn and Sony Michel – could be a fascinating option at # 43.

EDGE RUSHER
From the Board: Bradley Chubb, Marcus Davenport
Still available: Harold Landry of Boston College, Sam Hubbard of Ohio State, USC Rasheem Green , Florida State Josh Sweat, USC Uchenna Nwosu, Ohio State Tyquan Lewis

Landry's slide was one of Day 1's more surprising developments. Some considered him a potential top 10 pick. Instead, he fell completely out of the first round. He's smaller than the Patriots prototype for an Edge Rusher, but he would be a good 43 in rank if he's still there at the time. Former Buckeyes Hubbard and Lewis both would fit well in New England.

END END
Off the Board: Hayden Hurst
Still available: Dallas Goedert of South Dakota State, Penn State's Mike Gesicki, Oklahoma's Mark Andrews

Despite Rob Gronkowski's announcement that he will return this season, the Patriots could really use a young, talented tight end. Gesicki is a freak athlete, but Goedert is rounded.

SECURITY
From the Board: Minkah Fitzpatrick, Derwin James
Still Available: Stanford's Justin Reid, Alabama's Ronnie Harrison, Wake Forests Jessie Bates

Reid checks each box for what the patriots are looking for in their security devices.

CORNERBACK
From the Board: Denzel Ward, Jaire Alexander, Mike Hughes
Still Available: Iowa's Josh Jackson, LSU's Donte Jackson, Colorado's Isaiah Oliver, Florida's Duke Dawson, Auburn's Carlton Davis, Alabama's Anthony Averett, North Carolina's MJ Stewart

With only three cornerbacks in the first lap, the teams have many chances above average on the second day.

BROAD RECEIVER
Off-board: D.J. Moore, Calvin Ridley
Still available: Christian Kirk of Texas A & M, Courtlands Sutton of SMU, Anthony Miller of Memphis, D.U. Chark, Oklahoma State James Washington, Washington Dante Pettis, Penn State DaeSean Hamilton, Clemens Dion Cain, Colorado State Michael Gallup

Wideout is not a craving for the Patriots, but they've looked closely at some of the top receiver prospects, including Kirk, Sutton, Washington and Hamilton. Pettis, Cain, Chark and Gallup also look for New England.
