Bill de Blasio's first interview as presidential candidate was clouded on Thursday by demonstrators calling "Liar!" And "Can not run the city!" Can not govern the country! "Throughout the live segment.
The mayor appeared on "Good Morning America" to reaffirm his ambitions for the White House – but was greeted by some 60 protesters in front of the Times Square studio.
When the songs cut George Stephanopoulos' questions, de Blasio downplayed the debacle as a "little serenade".
Yet Stephanopoulos reminded the mayor of a recent survey, in which 76 percent of New Yorkers stated that they did not ask him to run.
"So, what should the rest of the country think?" Stephanopoulos asked.
"The choice that really counts is the choice," said de Blasio, flanked by his wife Chirlane McCray. "You do not start here, you stop here."
He also gave President Trump a new nickname – "Con Don".
McCray, calling herself de Blasio's "top adviser," promoted mental health for her crusade, even though her ThriveNYC initiative was attacked for being inefficient and ineffective.
