Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 has a quick start. Activision announced in a press release that the latest Call of Duty solution has broken Activision's record for the "biggest digital release of a day" in the company's history. The digital sale of the shooter developed by Treyarch outperformed the recent digital day-one record holder Call of Duty: WWII 2017.
In addition to the internal records at Activision, Black Ops 4 had the strongest day of digital full-game sales in the PlayStation Store in its history , Black Ops 4 also broke the Xbox One record for the best-selling digital game ever for Activision. Both statistics cover the global market.
Black Ops 4 is also available on the PC via Battle.net ̵
On all platforms, the number of players who connected Black Ops 4 on the first day online increased from Call of Duty: WWII, though Activision did not provide details as dramatic the increase was
Activision did not divide sales – physical or digital – into Black Ops 4, and that's no surprise as Activision and many other major publishers no longer share those details. According to GI.biz, sales of Black Ops 4 on the first weekend in the UK dropped by almost 50 percent compared to Call of Duty: WWII and by 59 percent compared to its predecessor, the Black Ops III. The site reported that Black Ops 4 had physical sales in the UK over the first weekend, the lowest since Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. A decline in physical games is expected as the industry increasingly tracks digital trends.
And as mentioned before, Black Ops 4 had more players on the first day than Call of Duty: WWII last year, so more people are playing the game.
Black Ops 4 launched on October 12 for PS4, Xbox One and PC. Unlike almost all previous parts of the Mainline franchise, Black Ops 4 does not offer a traditional campaign. However, it has an ambitious new mode in the form of the Battle Royale mode Blackout, which is Call of Duty's reaction to PUBG and Fortnite. The game also includes new storylines in the popular zombie mode created by developer Treyarch.
According to a Nielsen poll, Black Ops 4 is the most anticipated game of the 2018 Christmas season. GameSpot is currently playing Black Ops 4 for review and you can read our first impressions of Blackout, Zombies, Multiplayer and more.
